Sorry academic responsibilities, but I must reblog this. /crays
Based on online rankings and just recently, this picture, many people are buying this issue. Putting aside the sold-out success, I’m extremely happy for Kame because of the fact that the issues he’s bold enough to tackle are being delivered to the hands of many. I fiercely wish that the readers take a bit of time to look past the obviously startling first impressions, may it be ire towards his portrayal of an androgynous image or the appreciation of his hotness in the other photos. I think the real weight of this photo shoot lay on the message he’s trying to send out. He’s really wagering quite a lot here—he’s an idol, quite a public figure, and his every action is subject to criticism. To send out a message that deals with gender equality in a magazine whose usual features revolve basically around sexiness and nakedness (don’t get me wrong, I love nakedness), it takes balls, especially for someone like him who’s always under public scrutiny. It would be amazing if his efforts are realized and acknowledged. I cannot wait for the translations, oh lord.Kame, I will say it again, I am proud of you. You’re really something.
